A well written song that captures your imagination would be a job well done kind of writing day for any song writer.

I can only imagine what kind of day the the writer is having when I hear their songs…

Feeling empty? ‘Fill me up’
(Jesus Culture)
Feeling frisky? ‘Urgent’
Want to start a relationship?
I’m Ready’ (Bryan Adams)
Things out of control? ‘Mamma Mia’
Need to overcome? ‘Eye of the Tiger’
Holding things in? ‘Let it Go’
(Frozen soundtrack)
Gonna be a good day? ‘I Gotta Feeling’ (Black Eyed Peas)
Full of praise? ‘Great are you Lord’ (All Sons & Daughters)

We write best when we write what we intimately know. As a middle aged female, trying to write as a preteen male or world war one war vet would be a stretch for my ability, and likely vice versa. Our voice is strongest when we write as ourselves.

No one else truly lives your life. However, that being said, we can share common experiences in such a fashion that others can relate.

Everyone (usually) remembers their day!st kiss, date, day you lost a loved one, got your first pay cheque, gave birth to your child, started a new job.
Spotted a person you would like to get to know better, had your love stomped all over or our emotions battered by anger.

The songs that make it to the top of the charts resonate in our hearts.

Because we could have written them.

Ben Franklin said so eloquently, “Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing.”

As you look back over your day, did you live it in such a way to inspire others around you, or record it with words to help remember it?

Today never comes around again. Life your life to the fullest each day
